Holy Communion
THE LORD’S SUPPER - Please Review this information: (1 Corinthians chapters 1, 10 & 11 NIV)
· Why Receive Often? “For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.” (11:26)
· What is Received? “Is not the cup [wine] of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?” (10:16) “This is my blood of the covenant…for the forgiveness of sins.”(Matt. 26:28)
· Is Repentance Important? 27“…whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner [unrepentant – without sorrow for sin and trust in Jesus] will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord…. 30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep [died].”
· Is Unity Important? “I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.” (1:10)

The Church Year
As the world recognizes the four seasons of Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, so the church recognizes the six seasons of the church year as noted below. By doing so, we remain focused on Christ! These are the six seasons, their colors, and their themes:
- Advent (blue) - a time to prepare to celebrate Jesus’ first coming and be ready for His second coming thru our trust in Him as our Savior!
- Christmas (white) - a time to celebrate the fulfillment of God’s promise to send His Son to be our Savior!
- Epiphany (white and green) - a time in which Jesus makes Himself known to the world as the one sent from the Father to save His people from their sins!
- Lent (purple) - a time, beginning on Ash Wednesday, to especially remember our sins and Jesus’ suffering and death by which He paid the penalty for our sins and opened heaven to all believers!
- Easter (white) - a great celebration of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, which proves His victory over sin, death, and the devil!
- Pentecost / Trinity (green) - a time to remember that we are the forgiven, Spirit-powered children of God; therefore, we live for Christ by following God’s holy word, telling others of Jesus’ saving work, and seeking to help those in need!
